Operation Write Home Blog Hop

As you have read in previous posts, I'm involved with a super project called Operation Write Home.  It is a project where crafters all over the country make homemade cards that are sent overseas to our Hero's.  The cards are used by the HERO's to write home to their loved ones. They LOVE homemade cards vs the ones in the PX.

We are working on Valentine Day cards right now and have a deadline of January 7th. (cards always need to be sent approximately 6 weeks ahead of the holiday to assure they reach the Hero's in time for them to send them back to their loved one's. The deadline for Christmas cards has passed ) 

There is an incentive to send the Valentine cards earlier, as Archway has offered to donate sweets for all cards sent by December 1st.  Go here:  http://www.owhhomefrontblog.org/2010/11/special-mission-due-dec-1.html to read all the details.  Archway Cookies matches us sweets for sweets - they'll send cases and cases to our OWH contacts to enjoy for the Christmas holidays!


Operation Write Home is one of three charities that are in the running to win $50,000 from Joann Fabric.  That money would go a long way to help with the cost of postage to send the cards to our HERO's.  They just sent the 500,000th card so imagine what that cost in postage!!  They also need envelopes for the cards that arrive without ones.  Check out the link: http://www.joann.com/CraftForaCause  and vote DAILY (once every 24 hours)

Operation Write Home update

I am so excited about Operation Write Home and how it can impact our Hero's!  So far I've made Valentine and All Occasion cards.  I'm really looking forward to sending my first box.

If you are not crafty, I am looking for letters I can include in the boxes.  A thank you note would mean so much to them.  Maybe you can get your local school or church involved.  You don't have to mail them to me, you can send your own box to OWH.  Check their website for the address nearest to you.
